Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) Template

A structured reinforcement scheduling worksheet for a single member or element. Enter your bar marks, diameters, cutting lengths, and quantities — the workbook computes unit weight and total steel weight with the same engine that powers the Rebar Weight Calculator.

How it works

Cutting length is your own engineering input (it must already include the bend allowances and laps required by the detailing arrangement you are using). The workbook only adds the reliable, standard arithmetic — unit weight from bar diameter and total weight — and leaves every project-specific value to you.

  • Dark cells are calculated automatically and are not editable.
  • Light cells are user-entered — leave a field blank when you do not have the value.
  • See the Notes & Assumptions for exactly which formulas are applied.

Unit Weight and Total Weight are shown only when Bar Diameter, Cutting Length, and Number of Bars are all entered. Total Length = Cutting Length × Number of Bars. No bend-deduction formula is applied.

Notes & Assumptions

  • Unit Weight (kg/m) = d² / 162 (d in mm, steel density ≈ 7850 kg/m³) — computed by the same Rebar Weight Calculator engine that powers the live tool. The workbook does not duplicate the formula.
  • Total Length = Cutting Length × Number of Bars. Total Weight = Unit Weight × Cutting Length × Number of Bars (engine output). Both appear only when diameter, cutting length, and number of bars are all entered.
  • Cutting length is user-entered and must already include the bend allowances, hooks, and laps for the detailing arrangement in use. This template does not apply automatic bend-deduction or shape-code formulas.
  • No standards claim. The Shape / Shape Code column is a user-entered reference field only. This workbook does not claim compliance with any reinforcement detailing standard (e.g. BS 8666, IS 2502, ACI 315) unless you supply the applicable reference and check it.
  • Blank remains blank. Any field without a value stays empty (and produces no calculated result). Spacing is recorded for information only.
